Shame on Me!!!

My cousin Kim has pointed out that I have totally sucked at blogging, although she put it much nicer than that because she is a very nice person. And I've missed some exciting things, like J's 4th birthday. So I will backlog. I swear. I might have to start back at Christmas though. That was only five months back, right? And how many pictures could I have taken in five months? Just a little more than a few, like a few, few hundered...it's do-able. I swear. (Do I sound like I'm trying to convince myself?)

I'm off to edit, or at least organize enough to edit.

Old Sacramento

I have this rule that I will only go through my own personal pictures on chronological order. That way I don't skip ahead and forget to go back. And trust me, I'll forget. But I broke my very own self imposed rule and skipped. Yes, I know...shame on hypocritical me. The kids and I went to Old Sacramento as part of our "we didn't make it to Utah" vacation. We had so much fun and I wanted to see the pictures of my crazy little ones so bad I couldn't wait. So now I guess I need to put some reminder stickies on my monitor:

A kid could think they're in heaven in Old Sac. Maybe not Disneyland heaven, but they have kettle corn, saltwater taffy, ice cream, horses and trains which in my kids eyes are pretty close. We saved the ice cream for last as a bribe to be good. As for me, I just love walking around and looking at all the amazing buildings and the wood walkways. And you can't leave Old Sac without stopping in at the Railroad Museum. They have actual full size trains inside. Some you can climb on and walk through. One even jiggles around a bit so it feels like you could be riding somewhere, but when we left it, we were still in the museum. We spent all kinds of time downstairs looking at these feats of engineering, then headed upstairs to the toys. There are toy trains all over the place, but the best part is a huge working display that you could press buttons to control. The sun even sets and rises in that train world behind the glass. But enough of my rambling, on to some pics...

There goes the Sun

As the kids and I were pulling into the driveway I noticed the sun was in the perfect spot to catch a little flare...or a lot. I thought I would see how much flare I could catch. I tried my hardest to go over the top and turn my kids funky shades of orange. It could make for some fun pictures in the right situation, but mostly is just colorfully crazy.

I pulled back the flare on the next few a bit, but they're still odd colored children... So when it comes down to it I think I still love the warm glowing flare like these...

Our Peeps

We went to visit some of our favorite people, the Hanbergs! Their house is one of our kids favorite places to be and we hadn't stopped by in weeks, so we were missing them. They always seem to feed us amazing food while we're there, a yummy jalapeno artichoke dip on this particular day. I told J we were going to the Hanberg's house and he said, "Good, because I'm getting really hungry". But I swear we go for the people, not the food. The kids love this chair. It reclines and is super cozy, but they think of it more as a slide. Yes, it's reclined and they're sitting on it backwards.

9 hours of driving, and never left the state...

So I was suppose to be un Utah right now getting ready to go see a play at the Hale Center Theater, which besides seeing family is my favorite part because they do a totally awesome job of entertaining me, but I'm not. My parents decide to drive to Utah and visit family, so I invited my kids and myself along to go see Nathan's parents and my aunt and uncle. It's a long drive for little kids (and me too) so we decided to leave in the evening so they could sleep in the car. We each listened to 3 seperate weather reports that said the Sierra would have very light snow. Well, they are all big fat liars! Are the weathermen(people) conspiring? At first there was light snow, but stopped traffic. We sat for a few hours, then a few ambulances sped by, as fast as you can speed in the snow anyway, and then the real storm hit. Lots of snow and no chance of traffic moving any time soon. So we turned around and drove all the way home, watching the waiting line of traffic 15 miles behind us. It really was a pleasant drive though. Besides a little fussing from M when she was super tired, the kids were happy and great to be in confined spaces with.

Baby Joseph

Look at this chunky monkey cutie patutie! I got to visit this 1.5 week old last Saturday in his jungle room, which was completely adorable, by the way. I could just sit in there all day long looking at the cuteness, not to mention the little munchkin occupying it. Nikki (aka Mom) seems to be more on top of the decorating thing than me. But J is only going on four, so I'm not all that behind...right? You should hear this little man cry! It's the cutest little sound that just squeaks out of his tiny lungs. I love newborn cries.

Spring is in the air!

Don't you wish you lived in the country where your kids could run through fields of wild flowers?

Well, I don't live there, but I did find this awesome lot surrounded by 2 busy roads and sprawling suburbia.

The flowers were almost as tall as M and by the looks of it may have been calling her mean names...








J, on the other hand, had a gay old time...








But in the end, M over came her fear of giant name calling flowers...
